* – If you are planning to use Virtual Iron, make sure that you install Java Runtime Environment on the same machine where 2X VDI Agent is installed.

* – The free version of ESXi does not have support for vCLI thus the connection broker will not work.

1To install 2X VDI Agent on a Linux VMware server please use the following instructions:

For Debian

  1. Download 2X VDI Agent for Linux from here and save it to a local directory.
  2. Ensure that VMware server is installed and running correctly on the local machine.
  3. Ensure that the VMware Vix API is installed (only for VMware Server v1.*).
  4. Run the debian package using the following command “dpkg -i packagename“.

For RPM

  1. Download 2X VDI Agent for Linux from here and save it to a local directory.
  2. Change directory to where the package is saved.
  3. If the client is installing first time: rpm -ivh 2xvdsagent.rpm
  4. If the client is upgrading: rpm -Uvh 2xvdsagent.rpm
  5. If the client is deleting the package: rpm -e 2xvdsagent

For Shell Script

  1. Download 2X VDI Agent for Linux from here and save it to a local directory.
  2. Change directory to where the package is saved and ensure that setup is executable (“chmod 777 packagename”).
  3. Ensure that VMware server is installed and running correctly on the local machine.
  4. Ensure that the VMware Vix API is installed (only for VMware Server v1.*).
  5. Run the 2X VDI Agent installation script.

2To install the 2X VDI Agent on a 64-bit VirtualBox server please use the following instructions:

  1. Start a new Command Prompt windows (“Start > Run > cmd”) and change the current directory to where you 2X ApplicationServer XG is installed (e.g. – “cd c:\Program Files\2X\ApplicationServer”).
  2. Run 2XVDSAgent.exe -u to uninstall the 32-bit 2X VDI Agent installed.
  3. Change directory to the x64 directory (cd x64).
  4. Run 2XVDSAgent.exe -i to install the 64-bit version of 2X VDI Agent.

3To install the 2X VDI Agent on OpenSuse 11.1 with XEN/KVM/QEMU please use the following instructions:
