Published desktop

The 2X ThinClientServer allows the conversion of outdated PCs to energy-efficient, cost-effective thin clients, while simultaneously providing centralized thin client management controls.

bump.

Which means I haven't quite, really, lost hope.

But it is hanging by a thread.

So, version 6 is now out. The change log doesn't seem to mention this functionality at all, so I'm assuming it's still not possible. We're still using version 3.x of ThinClientServer and have been dragging our feet about the need to get updated to the newest version, primarily in hopes that some day, our dream of being able to connect directly to a published ICA desktop would be possible. But since we've been begging and pleading for this feature since using version 3.x of ThinClientServer, and years later, and 3 major revisions later, it looks like it's still not there. Having not tried version 6 yet, can anybody who has see if this is yet possible? I somehow doubt it is.

So I guess we should genuinely just give up on ever seeing this as a possibility? What kills me about this feature request is that to me, it seems like it would be one of the single easiest features to implement, given that the platform already deals with enumerating published ICA applications and ALL we want to do is just set it so that it connects straight into a single published app, bypassing the need for the whole 2X published application shell. The simple recap of all this is that I want to go straight from the 2X login screen on the client for users to a Citrix published desktop.

Argh. Got the notification of a new message in the thread, and hoped for a breakthrough. But it's just another lost soul crying out in the darkness . . .

You might as well lose all hope. After a brief exchange with sales and then support regarding any plans to allow launching to a published desktop, after explaining the options available (dump CTX and buy AppServer, or convert all thinclients to use published only) the answer is below.

I guess we will continue our migration to Wyse ... 2X was a good product for transition but it seems its time to move on.

---

No, there is no plan for this option.

Published Citrix Desktops 6.1

Postby Lee » Mon Jan 19, 2009 10:06 am

All

Those who have been patient and waiting for this feature, it will be definitely in ThinclientServer 6.1

This is scheduled for beta release end Q1

It has been delayed due to the amount of clients actually switching away from Citrix to our own ApplicationServer product and therefore development focus has been on that.

If anyone has any further questions feel free to pm me

thanks

Well shut my mouth wide open! If this is indeed actually coming, I'm a very happy camper. I'd pretty much given up hope of ever seeing this as a possibility. Now I just have to start watching for the other signs of the apocalypse. ;-)

Thank you VERY much...

Hi,

I'm new on 2X ThinClientServer (v6.1.5349), I'm trying the free edition to see if the product are good for the needs of my company before buying Enterprise license. I tried thinstation, openthinclient with no succeed or by using some tricks to get citrix published desktop deployed. Actually everything worked great for me without any trouble installation, configuration, I tried remote desktop connection, it handle the passthought connection that really great. But sadly i can't try citrix published applications in the free edition.

So I would like to know if someone finally try and what was the result for citrix published desktop. For the number of license we need to buy, I just can't say to my superior let's buy it, I will see if it works after. If anyone got screenshots or something, it will be nice.

Thank you

Do you mean published applications or published desktop now ?
We use 2X since one year with published applications and it runs well.

BTW the feature to publish ONLY desktops, or ONLY applications from a Citrix/2X publishing server is now available in v6.1 ;)

The free edition doesn't exist anymore. Now its Standard or Enterprise. Basically you get a free key for 5 users anyway and you pay if you need more than 5 users.

If you want a free solution, then thats another story altogether. I suggest you try it and get the free key.

I am currently evaluating version 6.1 and i am unable to connect to a citrix desktop published as a citrix published application. It is unclear to me if this feature is available in version 6.1. Can anybody confirm this??

Regards,
Ted

How can I connect my Iphone to my wireless b/g router at hom

Postby Hathy » Fri Nov 13, 2009 8:21 am

I put my simcard in this new iphone. I don't have an iphone plan. How can I get Safari, Youtube, and Facebook as well as my other applications to work? Calling and Text messaging works, however; the majority of my applications do not work.I just want at least internet and shazam and I should be good.
