Opera Browser & YouTube = Extremely Slow!!!

Hi,

We just bought a new Thin Client to test it with the 2XOS. It's an HP t5740e Thin Client. We plan on using this model with our current 2X ThinClientServer since it supports dual monitors (tested).

The problem that we have with the 2XOS is that the Opera browser that comes with it is useless. It's painful to try to watch videos on YouTube even at low quality. The Thin Client comes with Windows Embedded Standard 7 and we can watch YouTube videos in full HD so the hardware is not the problem.

Is there anything that can be done inside the 2XOS to take advantage of the hardware acceleration for the video or is there another Thin Client out there that can play full HD videos in 2XOS?

HP t5740e Thin Client
Processor -> Intel Atom N280 Processor 1.66 GHz
Graphics -> Intel GL40
Memory -> 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM

Thanks,
Eric

Can you please post which version of the OS are you currently using? Please include version and name.

We have tested YouTube videos over Opera and, with the client specs you have specified, we did not encounter such issues. Make sure that you have configured the thin client properly. I suggest that you use the proper video driver as this makes a lot of difference.

ThinClientOS_generic.r3-v7.1_release-r10118 with the Intel driver.

It's the only version of the 2XOS that seems to work with this Thin Client.

Its the recommended version to work with your thin client. Are you using the client in standalone mode or managed?

I've tried both, local install on the Thin Client HD and managed PXE boot via ThinClientServer. Same results...
It's extremely painful to try to watch something on YouTube...

Also what would be the proper setting for ACPI on this Thin Client model? I had to disable the screen save in the 2XOS because the USB keyboard and mouse stop working after the screen saver kicks in. The default setting is set to Auto and I'm not sure which setting would be best suited for the HP t5740e.

Same problem here. Running flash videos at any resolution from within the Opera browser is very sluggish on the lastest 7.1 build.

Running HD videos in 7.1 with the video player (not Opera) runs smooth. It appears that either Opera or Flash is not using hardware acceleration. Also, simply navigating to youtube's main page (not running a video) renders the machine very slow... for example, typing something in the search bar operates in slow motion. The letters that I type only appear a few seconds after. Any type of flash almost cripples the machine.

I think logging a request with support would be a good idea.
