Are you using a compact version of the OS?

You need to switch to a generic build to have this feature.

The "Desktop Type" option is in the "Desktop Appearance" plug-in.

Found it thanks.

Is there a way like in 7.0 that configuration can be locked ?
I do not want users to make adjustments to the system settings.

At this point we do not have this feature. If it is useful to you, you can contact our support and put in a feature request. Feedback on the 7.1 release is greatly appreciated.

Hé Geoffreys thanx for all your replies.

Used the generic version, but sound output is not much different.
Still to soft. I'm using the internal speaker as output, so that may be the reason.

So back to the Compact version, cause I do not want users to have other tools then the RDP.

I'll put in a feature request for the security locking. :P

Thanks for your feedback. Can you give us an idea on how much clients are you using the OS on?
Can you confirm that the 7.1 version worked on HP DC7700, DC7800, and DC7900?

This can help us to include the following hardware in our HCL list.

I have about 50 pc's and have tested 7.1 up till now on two pc's.
We only use the RDP connection to my windows 2008r2 terminal server farm.

I can confirm it works on DC7800 when setting Bios to default.
The DC7700 is not working 100 % but acceptable (have to refresch desktop icons each time).

On the DC7800 it works with the R3 (but now and then still get kernel panic which is solved with power down and restart). Had to use safe install though.
If only the sound could be turned up a notch this would be a 100 % solution.

DC 7900 will be the next one to start testing.

Hi ekapco,

Thanks for sending all this feedback.

Can you kindly expand a bit on the problem "have to refresh desktop icons each time"? In particular:

1. Are you managed by ThinClientServer or operating in standalone mode?
2. Are you using the simple (FVWM) or enhanced desktop implementation (XFCE)?

Thanks

1. It is a standalone solution
2. As using the compact r3 version, it is the simple desktop

I will reinstall the DC 7700 to see if the problem stays.

Thanks.

If I am understanding matters correctly, the desktop session loads but no icons are visible on the desktop at which point you need to do a 'Refresh Shortcuts' to get the icons back. Doing a 'Reset Desktop Icons' should solve the problem too. If this is the scenario, then we should have a fix for such issues in a future build.

On the DC 7700 now reinstalled (safe mode) Compact r3 after setting Bios to default.
Everything is ok now.

Even the sound is better than on the DC7800 !

So the only problems are, that a Reboot (without total shutdown) gives kernel panic.

And the sound.

Is there a way, to have numlock on when started and using symbols the windows way ?

Meaning when I want to type ë i can use " and then the E instead of having to use "alt" codes or symbol inserts ??
