Welcome to the June issue of the 2X Software Virtualization News – Partner Edition! We’ve included a selection of our recent activities below, such as our recent office reorganization, as well as a customer success story of a health club provider experiencing success with the 2X ApplicationServer. Installing 2X Components

2X Software can be installed as separate components on different machines, allowing the possibility of isolating services individually, for improved load distribution and redundancy.

Here, we have outlined an efficient way to install components on individual machines. These machines can be physical or virtual. Please follow this link to our solution guide for more information.

First, access the "2XVDS.msi" installation file from http://downloads.2x.com. Double click on the "2XVDS.msi file". If the screen shows "Open File – Security Warning", simply choose Run.

Click Next, read the License Agreement, check "I Accept the License Agreement" and click Next. Select the destination folder, and click Next again.

In the Select Installation Type section, check Custom and click Next. The following window will appear to show the list of components:

2X Installer

The components listed are:

2X Publishing Agent: Provides load balancing of published applications and desktops – must be installed on a central machine, which can also be a terminal server.
2X SecureClientGateway: Tunnels all traffic needed by 2X applications on a single port, and provides a secure connection – must be installed on a central machine which can be also be a terminal server.
2X Terminal Server Agent: Component which communicates with the 2X Publishing Agent — must be installed on a terminal server.
2X VDI Agent: Component for Virtual Desktop (VDI) support.

Select the component you wish to install, click Next and then click Install.

Note:
In Version 8, gateways are automatically detected and can be pushed from the 2X Console. Publishing Agents can also be pushed from the 2X Console, but this is a procedure for creating a backup (slave) Publishing Agent.

The 2X Console only displays settings which apply to particular installed components. Some components have no console settings, such as the terminal server agent, the settings of which can only be edited from the 2X Console where the 2X Publishing Agent is installed.

2X Software recently announced changes within its Asian-Pacific territories. The 2X Japan office will assist customers and partners in Japan, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and Macau, while the 2X Australia office will service sales and support needs throughout the rest of Asia. These changes will enable 2X to continue to offer top quality regional support to customers and partners, due to the expertise of the 2X regional staff. Luxury Health Club Provider Entrusts Customer Well-Being to the 2X ApplicationServer

Luxury health club provider Next Generation Clubs operates health clubs from Perth to Sydney, with future plans for a New Zealand expansion. The company maintains separate databases of club activities, membership rosters and club attendance at each club for planning purposes, making organization-wide records keeping a difficult task. 2X Software has partnered with Getech for exclusive thin client distribution throughout the UK. Joining with Getech will allow 2X access to Getech’s extensive reseller network, and further expand the 2X brand in the UK. By working with the number one thin client distributor in the UK, 2X can move toward a new stage of growth in offering virtual computing solutions for customers. The 2X US office will be holding training sessions for 2X Partners once again in June:

Sales Training: Wednesday, June 9th, 2 PM CST (Web-based)
Technical Training: Friday, June 18th, 2 PM CST (Web-based)
On-Site 2Xpert Training: Friday, June 25th, 9 AM-4 PM CST (On-site)
