DALLAS, TX, February 21st, 2013 — 2X Software, a global leader in virtual desktop and application delivery solutions, today announced that the company has launched the full version of the 2X Client for RDP / Remote Desktop on Mac OS X. The free 2X Client, already downloaded and trusted by millions of Windows users, is now available for MAC users to remotely connect to Windows desktops and run published applications such as Microsoft Office.

The 2X Client for Mac OS X provides MAC users with the ability to stay connected to their home or office Windows PC. The application allows you to simply and securely connect via RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) to your remote Windows desktop and applications whenever you want, wherever you are.

Additionally, you can experience the full benefits of published remote Windows applications and desktops connecting to 2X ApplicationServer XG. This way, the 2X Client for RDP / Remote Desktop seamlessly runs published Windows applications and desktops from Windows Terminal Server and all major VDI Hypervisors including Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware or Citrix Xen.

“We are very excited for the full version launch of the 2X Client for Mac OS X. Our goal was to develop an easy to use, secure way for MAC users to remotely connect to their desktop and run published applications. We are proud to supply the MAC user community with a free 2X solution which will hopefully enhance their computing experience.

I have the latest MAC OSX client and it only allows you to create a connection to 2X. NOT an RDP connection :(

  • Gino says:

    Hi Andrew,

Is possible to set Microsoft Remote Desktop Gateway over this new client?

Till now I can see that only allow direct RDP connections.

    Thanks

  • Chris says:

    Hi Orlando.

The new client supports native RDP connections.

This would allow you to place a connection to any service listening for incoming RDP connections over that protocol.

    Thank you.

    Chris.

  • Orlando says:

Thanks for your reply Chris, so, my question is; if I’m using remote desktop gateway for enable multiples machine RDS access by same IP adress across a firewall , where can I set the Remote Desktop Gateway options into the 2x remote client for mac?

Into Microsoft RDP client is possible in advance options, so , you know that till now this has been imposible from a mac.

    Thanks again

    OV

  • Chris says:

    Hi Orlando,

    Thanks for your response.

At present, we allow connections to be placed using Native RDP. Connecting to RD Gateways is not currently supported.

2X ApplicationServer XG package includes the ability to setup 2X Secure Client Gateways. This would allow you to setup a gateway which would make connectivity to internal resources possible.

The 2X Client Gateway will also allow incoming 2X Connections initiated from the MAC Client (or any 2X Client listed here: http://www.2x.com/rdp-client), as well as the loadbalancing of different Terminal Servers configured in 2X ApplicationServer XG console.

The gateway in itself also accepts connections from ThinClients running our operating system 2X OS as well as including the ability to allow Wyse ThinClients to connect to a 2X Farm among other things.

For more information, please check out the following product page: http://www.2x.com/applicationserver. Please feel free to contact the support department directly at support@2x.com also for any info you might require.

    Thank you!

I read good reviews and downloaded the program from the Apple APP store and installed it on my MAC. But I have no idea how to begin to set this up so my MAC can see my PC. I am not a computer / IT professional, so the only way this can be helpful to me is if there are simple clear step-by-step instructions that walk me through how to configure each machine. Can anyone help?

    Thank you
