Optimum User Experience, High Performance and Minimum TCO with IGEL Thin Clients and 2X ApplicationServer XG

Optimum User Experience, High Performance and Minimum TCO with IGEL Thin Clients and 2X ApplicationServer XG

As perfectly attuned end user devices for efficient, high performance cloud access, 2X ApplicationServer XG and IGEL Linux thin clients reduce the cost of IT workstations

Dallas, Texas,  August 14, 2012 – 2X Software, a global leader in desktop virtualization and application delivery, today announced full compatibility with IGEL Linux thin clients. The company’s 2X ApplicationServer XG is now available on IGEL Linux thin clients with the ‘Advanced’ firmware package, including the IGEL Universal Desktop Converter (UDC) software.

2X Software offer a wide variety of cloud computing solutions via 2X ApplicationServer XG, the leading application and desktop delivery solution that allows administrators to publish applications and virtual desktops from an all-in-one platform. IGEL thin client solutions complement 2X features, with the aim of IGEL’s Universal Desktop Strategy being high customer performance with secure, yet flexible, access to the private and public IT cloud.

IT centralization and virtualization are usually accompanied by major server-side investments, causing administrators to update their existing PCs or thin clients for temporary use rather than seek new hardware immediately. IGEL UDC software can transfer IGEL Linux firmware as the sole operating system, enabling 2X features, such as Application/Desktop (VDI) Delivery, Universal Printing, Two-Factor Authentication, Single-Sign On and more, for IGEL thin clients.  Management workloads can be reduced by up to 70 percent, and due to the significantly lower operating and management costs of an IGEL/2X joint solution, migration costs are swiftly recovered.

“With the IGEL Thin Clients and 2X, organizations can easily ensure maximum thin client efficiency and operability by adding the critical cloud computing functionality administrators need with 2X ApplicationServer XG,” said Nikolaos Makris, CEO of 2X Software.

“This partnership fits a market need for delivering virtual computing in environments where network constraints come into play.   IGEL’s Universal Desktop Conversion, combined with our industry-leading Universal Management software, provides 2X users unprecedented access to a thin client solution that is fully supported by IGEL and 2X,” said Jeff Kalberg, General Manager of IGEL Technology America.
